Especially good for a World Communion Sunday, but appropriate for any time of confession.
Call to Confession: Let us come before the Lord with open, honest hearts, acknowledging our shortcomings and seeking forgiveness, wholeness, and healing.
Prayer of Confession: We confess, O God, that we have sometimes allowed our differences to divide us. We have not always lived as one body in Christ, embracing the diversity of your people. Forgive us, and help us seek unity and reconciliation. Merciful God, we acknowledge our failures to love as you have loved us. We have withheld forgiveness and grace from others, forgetting your command to love our neighbors as ourselves, regardless of differences. Have mercy on us, O Lord, and renew our hearts with your Spirit. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon: Hear the good news: God’s love for us transcends our differences. In Christ, we are reconciled to God and to one another. Receive God’s grace and go forth in the joy of the Lord. Amen!
